Step 2 – Measure Your Top Bust
Now wrap the tape across the fullest part of your bust and this is your top bust measurement.

How Can I Tell My Bra Fits Ok?

Band

When putting on a new bra, the bra band should stays parallel to the ground and it should fit comfortably and not ride up. Start by hooking the bra at the last row of hooks and gradually tighten your bra as it stretches over time with regular wear.

Tips: If the bra band is digging into your skin and causes bulges, you need to size up your bra band, for example from 70 to 75. If your bra is riding upwards especially at the back, it means the band is too loose, you may need to size down your bra band, for example from 80 to 75.

Bra Cup

A good fitting bra cup should be able to cover the breast fully. When putting on the bra, you should bend forward slightly and ensure both breasts fall nicely into the bra cups. Place one hand and use a gentle swiping motion from the outer side and sweep your breast towards the center and ensure your breasts fit nicely into the cups with no gaps or spillage from the top and sides, then hook your bra.

Tips: If you notice there are bulges from the top and side of the cup, it means the bra cup is too small for you, you will need to increase your cup size, for example, from A to B. If you notice any gaps between the bra cup and breast, the bra cups feels too big, you may need to size down your bra cup, for example, from C to B.

Strap

Adjust the bra straps to fit comfortably on your shoulders. A good rule of thumb is to always to ensure you are able to slide 1 finger between the strap and your shoulder and it should be feel snug and not loose. If there is any discomfort and pain after prolonged wearing, the straps might be too tight. Adjust the straps again and make sure it is not digging into your skin. Loose bra straps on the other hand will slip off constantly and do not offer good support.

Tips: Always remember to adjust the bra straps of a new bra and repeat the “finger test”. Do also adjust straps of old bras to fit as straps might get loosen with prolong wearing.

Underwire

Underwires should sit nicely right under your breasts to provide support without causing discomfort and pain. The underwire should not be pressing against your breasts’ tissues. Tips: If the underwire of the bras feels uncomfortable, you might need to find a bra cup size that suits you. And if the underwire is poking you, it could be damaged during the laundering process . You will need to replace a new bra to prevent hurting yourself.

Other Key Notes For Good Fit:

• Measurements are crucial. Ensure your measuring tape is straight all the way around, stays snug without digging in. Breathe normally and check your measurement after you exhale.

• From time to time it is good to retake your measurements to ensure you are wearing the right size.

• If you struggled to fit to your usual size, try sister sizes for fitting when your cup or band is not fitting well on you. For example, if you are usually a 75B, and realise that the bra band fits loose on you but you will still like to maintain the cup volume, try a sister size 70C. If it is the other way round, you realise that it is tight at the bra band, down a cup size and up a size band by trying 80A. See our sister size chart below for more info. Each row of the size chart identify your sister size based.
